Cost Difference And Material Difference Between Door Fronts

The cost differences between cabinet door construction styles can vary widely depending on the materials used, the level of craftsmanship required, and other factors such as finish, design, and hardware. However, here is a general breakdown of the approximate cost differences for the most common cabinet door styles based on industry averages:

Solid Wood Doors: Solid wood doors are typically the most expensive option, with prices ranging from $100 to $500 per door or more. This style requires high-quality wood and skilled craftsmanship to produce, making it a luxury item for many homeowners. Solid wood doors can cost 50-100% more than other construction styles.

Veneer Doors: Veneer doors are typically less expensive than solid wood doors, with prices ranging from $50 to $200 per door or more. This style requires a high-quality veneer, substrate material, and skilled craftsmanship to produce, making it a more affordable option for many homeowners. Veneer doors can cost 25-50% less than solid wood doors.

MDF Doors: MDF doors are typically less expensive than veneer doors, with prices ranging from $20 to $100 per door or more. This style requires MDF or other engineered wood materials and skilled craftsmanship to produce, making it a budget-friendly option for many homeowners. MDF doors can cost 50-75% less than solid wood doors.

Thermofoil Doors: Thermofoil doors are typically the least expensive option, with prices ranging from $15 to $50 per door or more. This style requires a vinyl material, substrate material, and skilled craftsmanship to produce, making it a very affordable option for many homeowners. Thermofoil doors can cost 75-90% less than solid wood doors.  The downside is that they are subject to peeling due to moisture in a kitchen environment and for that reason Provincial Cabinets does not sell this door.

It is important to note that these are general estimates, and actual costs can vary depending on many factors such as the size of the doors, the quality of materials used, and the level of customization required. It is always recommended to obtain multiple quotes from reputable cabinet makers to get an accurate idea of costs.

At Provincial we offer high grade doors like high pressure laminate (HPL) and wood with high end lacquer finishes. All our drawers are solid wood with English dovetail joinery and cabinet boxes are made of plywood.

Most importantly we offer all this at the same cost at disposable thermofoil costs. Average costs around $15ft2 for doors and drawer fronts.
